Houston is a big metropolitan area in Texas that stretches all the way to Galveston Bay. The Space Center Houston, a seaside tourist center at NASA’s astronaut training and flight control complex, is in close proximity to the facility. The Theater District, which is home to the world-renowned Houston Grand Opera, and the Historic District, which features 19th-century architecture and luxury restaurants, are both located in the city’s relatively compact Downtown.

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston

An EXCELLENT art museum! We went for the extensive Impressionism exhibit and also enjoyed the rest of the art in the building. Give yourself PLENTY of time as there are 3 separate buildings. You’ll probably need 2-3 days to see what you’d like to see. Super worth it.

Houston Zoo

I LOVE this Zoo! The membership price is so worth it if you live in Houston or the burbs. Two visits and you’ve already paid for the memberships- totally a steal! The exhibits are well done. The animals are in very beautiful habitats and that makes me happy. The staff really takes care of them. Their entire motto is “See Them. Save Them” and I love that they really work to protect and save all of these beautiful creatures. In December they do Houston Zoo Lights and it’s phenomenal! The weather is usually very enjoyable and the lights are spectacular. They even have photos with Santa which is super cute. My one piece of advice is GO EARLY. Parking gets insane on the weekends and you can spend 45 minutes trying to park. Also, bring a stroller! It’s a ton of walking! If you go in summer, bring lots of water, snacks and even a fan! You will love going here!

Space Center Houston

This place has something for everybody! Our group spent 5 hours here, and honestly could have spent another hour or two to really see everything. I definitely recommend looking on the website to see what each tram tour covers to ensure you find the best tour/tours for you. You must reserve your spot on the tram tours, which is free to do through the Space Center app. Also, I highly recommend reserving a space for any of the virtual reality attractions, if that is something you are interested in. We arrived at 1 pm, and all spots were taken through the end of the day.

Houston Museum of Natural Science

Great place to go explore. Lots of interactive exhibits. About 1/4 of the museum is something that you have to pay extra for so keep that in mind. The exhibits were daily clean and there were hand sanitizer stations throughout the museum. Great spot for children or curious adults. We spent about two hours here exploring all of the different floors. We went on a Saturday and it was pretty crowded. Good overall experience.
